Quotes

"Pull it up, child, Pull it up?" She picked up the limb sprout and squeezed her thumb up its tiny stalk. Microscopic grains oozed out. "Why, one sprig of nut grass can ruin a whole yard. Look here. When it comes fall this dries up and the wind blows it all over Maycomb County!"
                                        -Miss. Maudie (56)

"You are too young to understand it," she said,"but sometimes the Bible in the hand of one man is worse than a wiskey bottle in the hand of-- oh, your father."
                                        -Miss. Maudie (60)

"What i meant was, if Atticus Finch drank until he was drunk he wouldn't be as hard as some men at their best. There are just some kind of men who--who're so busy worrying about the next world they've never learned to live in this one, and you can look down the street and see the results."
                                        -Miss. Maudie (60)

Atticus told me to delete the adjectives and I'd have the facts.
                                        -Atticus (78)

Mr. Avery said it was written on the Rosetta Stone that when children disobeyed their parents, smoked cigarettes and made war on eachother, the seasons would change.
                                        -Mr. Avery (85)

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courade is a man with a gunin his hand. It's when you know your licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. you rarely win, but sometimes you do.
                                        -Atticus (149)

Never, never, never, on cross-examination ask a witness a question you don't already know the answer to, was a tenet I absorbed with my baby food. Do it, and you'll often get an answer you don't want, an answer that might wreck your case.
                                        -Atticus  (237)

"Atticus says cheatin' a colered man is ten times worse than cheatin' a white man," I muttered "Says its the worst thing you can do."
                                      - Scout  (269)

"Aunty," Jem spoke up, "Atticus says you can choose your friends but you sho' can't choose your family, an' the're still kin to you no matter whether you acknowledge 'em or not, and it makes you look silly when you don't."
                                       - Jem  (300)

Mrs. Merriweather turned on her chimes for the lady sitting beside her. "Ohh that. Well I always say forgive and forget, forgive and forget. thing that church ought to do is help her lead a Christian life for those children from here on out. some ought to go out there and tell that preacher to encourage her."
                                        -Mrs. Merriweather  (309)

"Becasue you ain't familiar with the law. First thing you learn when you're in a lawin' family is that there ain't any definite answers to anything. Mr. Finch could'nt say somethin's so when he dosen't know for sure it's so."
                                        -Calpurnia  (314)

"I mean this town,  They're perfectly willing to let him do what they're too afraid to do themselves- it might lose 'em a nickle. They're perfectly wiling to let him wreck his health doing what they're afraid to do they're-"
                                        -Aunt Alexandra  (316)

Neighbors bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between. Boo was our neighbor. He gave us twoi soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives. But neighbors give in return. we never put back into the tree what we took out of it: we had given him nothing, and it made me sad.
                                        -Scout (373)

Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough.
                                        -Scout (374)

Refelection's

When I read this I thought about how one bad attitude can ruin the entire day. And mature in to an entire week. So don't let one little mistake ruin you entire day. Think of the bright side.

I think that this means everyone has their own way of taking in the bible.  And everyone can release how they feel, and not everyone's will be the same. And that just because you have an alcoholic as your father does not mean he is bad.

This means that not every man is the same. some men are horrible and some men a great.  people are different.

This is so true and I love this quote because it is true.  Take any over exadrated situation and delete the adjectives and you will have the facts.

I thought that this one was funny. It reminds me of some one who does not like kids and just wants to blame every thing on them. very funny.

This truley is courage.  its funny how they say it but its true. I am going to take this quote with me my entire life.

I thought that it was funny how she learned this as a baby. And its the same with every family, they teach their kids about their job.  Like she said it was absorbed in her baby food.

I thought that why its worse is because they don't really have anything.  And if you take one thing it can ruin their entire life. They already have people hating them they don't need another reason.

My parents tell me this all the time. And its true,  They treat you the way your supposed to be treated, not the way you want.

My little brother needs to remember this.  Every time he gets mad at me he will bring it up the rest of the day.  Forgive and then forget.

Again what ever job your parents have you will learn about. They will take their job home and teach you about it without even knowing it.

Everyone is a hypocrite. Do as I say but not as I do. my parents do it all the time.

I felt sad, but scout really did give him something.  She gave him her friendship. And that is really all he wanted.  She walked him home she was nice to him and thats what he wanted.

I finally realized that boo wanted to stay in his house. He never wanted to be judged but he was so thats why he stayed inside.
